Dr Phillips is a practicing family physician with training in health services and primary care research with an emphasis on rural health and social determinants of health. His team at ABFM has published extensively on strategies to improved measures of social deprivation for improved outcomes and allocation of resources in primary care. Dr Phillips has expertise on translating research findings into policies which improve equity and outcomes, for example, adjustment of Medicare payment to reflect social risk and true costs of care.
