Who
can use AFC Data

The American Family Cohort (AFC) data can be used by academic researchers with either a university or non-profit research organization affiliation for research projects that have been approved by the American Board of Family Medicine. If you are with a government agency and would like access to the American Family Cohort, we would like to find ways to work with you. Please reach out to Isabella Chu at the Stanford Center for Population Health Sciences to schedule a meeting to discuss your research or programmatic needs.
At present, the AFC data cannot be accessed by for profit entities or for commercial purposes. If you wish to use the AFC data for safety monitoring or similar drug or device studies, please reach out to Isabella Chu at the Stanford Center for Population Health Sciences to schedule a meeting to discuss your research question. In rare instances, academic researchers are permitted to use the AFC data to conduct safety monitoring on behalf of commercial entities. There can be no restriction on publication of findings and individuals with commercial interests will not be permitted to directly access the data.
