Why
use AFC data?

The American Family Cohort (AFC) data are ideal for the study of primary care in the United States, the role of primary care in advancing population health and health equity. Granular information on geography and time in these data also make them ideal for research on policy, health services and social and environmental determinants of health.
The AFC data also have excellent potential as a complement to data historically used for safety and public health monitoring. They are frequently refreshed and both provide richer and different information than may typically be captured in sentinel datasets.
These data are also excellent for long term monitoring of drugs and treatments in a non-academic medical center population.
